Black Friday is just around the corner (it lands on November 29 in 2024), and we're excited to see what discounts we can find on big brands like Bowflex, Nordictrack and CAP Barbell. Each year, we scour Black Friday weights deals from retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart and Target to find the best.
Weights can be expensive due to the cost of materials and manufacturing, so it's wise to buy during big sales events—and they don't come any bigger than Black Friday. It's a great way to add equipment from quality brands, such as CAP Barbell or Powerblock (personal favorites) to your home gym for less.
Quality and affordability are our main priorities when looking for Black Friday weights deals to share with you. We check the deals we recommend for unfair price gauging, so you know that the discount is genuine and not artificially inflated for the event.
Bookmark this page for later, as we will update it with early bird deals in the weeks leading up to Black Friday and throughout the event (we try to do this several times a day) to give you the freshest discounts before they sell out.
Below are some of the best deals we saw over Black Friday and Cyber Monday last year, so you can see the sort of discounts you can expect. These deals are no longer live, but we will begin loading in this year's deals as soon as we start seeing retailers post their Black Friday discounts (often a week or so before the event for early bird deals).
Signature Fitness Rubber Encased Hex Dumbbell 10lb Pair: was $93.99, now $29.99 at Amazon
Save $64 Amazon's list price for these dumbbells is inflated—looking back, it seems their average price over the last three years has been more like $40. However, I think $29.99 is still a really solid deal for a pair of robust hex dumbbells. You can pick up a 20lb for just $50.39 too, if you're looking for an extra challenge.
Amazon Basics Rubber Encased Hex Dumbbell 15lb: was $19.99, now $15.38 at Amazon
Save 15%. Ah, good old Amazon Basics. Just like the brand's kettlebell, this is a solid, affordable strength and conditioning training option with a cast iron body and rubber casing for added longevity. Thanks to a Black Friday discount, the 20lb weight is now cheaper than the 15lb and 10lb options, ensuring you get plenty of bang for your buck.
CAP Barbell Black Cast Iron Hex Dumbbell 55lb: was $126.99, now $73.72 at Amazon
Save $53.27 This CAP Barbell dumbbell (see, I told you the name could be confusing) ditches the usual rubber casing for a more traditional look, and I'm a big fan. These sleek and stylish free weights are up to 43% cheaper on Amazon over Black Friday, with weight options from 5lb to 105lb.
CAP Barbell Adjustable Dumbbell: was $99, now $76.50 on Amazon
Save $23.49 Similar to the Core Home Fitness Adjustable Dumbbells I own, this CAP Barbell option has a clever weight-changing mechanism built into the central handle. This makes changing the weight a breeze; just pop it in its docking tray, twist the grip to your chosen load then you're ready to go. This is only the price for a single dumbbell, but the fact you can pick up a pair for a little over $150 (compared to the Bowflex's $349) is still a diamond deal.
Bowflex SelectTech 1090 Adjustable Dumbbell: was $799, now $599 at Bowflex
Save $200 If the SelectTech 552's maximum weight of 52.5lb isn't heavy enough for you, try its big brother. Each one of the 1090 dumbbells can be loaded up to 90lb, which should be enough to challenge even long-time lifters' legs. Bulgarian split squats, anyone?
PowerBlock Elite EXP Adjustable Dumbbells 5-50lb Pair: was $499.00, now $299.98 at Amazon
Save 33%. PowerBlock dumbbells tend to split opinion. I'm not mad about the cage-like shape, but they've still earned a spot in this list thanks to a hefty discount and my colleague who swears by them. What's less controversially impressive is the fact that this set can replace 15 pairs of fixed weight dumbbells weighing up to 50lb. An optional expansion kit raises this to 90lb per hand.
NordicTrack iSelect Adjustable Dumbbells: was $429.99, now $310.79 at Amazon
Save $239.05 This pair of sleek NordicTrack adjustable dumbbells was better than half price on Amazon in early November ($190.94), but the price has now bounced back up to a still reasonable $310.79. My advice? Keep an eye on this one and see if the price plummets again as we creep nearer to Black Friday.
Price check: Dick's sporting goods: $499.99
Tru Grit Fitness Cast Iron Kettlebell 12lb: was $34.99, now $14.99
Save 57% For me, the best kettlebells keep things simple, and this Tru Grit weight does just that. It does the basics brilliantly with a cast iron design that's built to last, an easy-to-wield shape and a lightly textured powder-coated handle for extra grip during sweaty sessions.
Amazon Basics 15lb kettlebell: was $49.73, now $27.10 at Amazon
Save 46% on this great basic kettlebell from Amazon. Weights are notoriously expensive and the price seems to rise with the weight of the item. However, if you cash in on this great early Black Friday deal, you can get a 45lb kettlebell for less than a dollar more than the retailer's 25lb option.
Bowflex SelectTech 840 Kettlebell: was $149, now $119 at Bowflex
Save $30 Can't decide what weight the kettlebell you buy should be? Who said you need to choose just one. This adjustable Bowflex 'bell (the top-rated option on our best kettlebell guide) has eight weight settings from 8lb to 40lb, which you can switch between with the twist of a dial. It's now $30 cheaper in the Bowflex Early Access Sale.
Yes4All Vinyl Coated Kettlebells: was $59.07 now $38.99 at Amazon
Save 34% Two weights for less than $40 is a good deal, particularly when they feature in our best kettlebell guide. Yes4All kettlebells are among my favorites as they're a high-quality yet budget-friendly option that can be used for indoor and outdoor workouts.
Bowflex SelectTech 2080 Barbell With Curl Bar: was $599, now $399 at Bowflex
Save $200 Like the Bowflex SelectTech dumbbells and kettlebell before them, the 2080 barbell set is in the Bowflex Early Access Sale. And, like its counterparts, it offers a compact and versatile home training solution. Using the docking station you can attach and remove its plates in seconds to choose from seven weight options of 20lb to 80lb.
Decathlon 110lb Adjustable Weight Training Dumbbell And Barbell Set: was $249, now $169 at Walmart
Save $80 I’m well-placed to recommend this product. Why? Because I used a near-identical Decathlon dumbbell and barbell set when I started working out at home. Both the dumbbells and barbell have plenty of weight options thanks to the interchangeable plates, and the clip collars make this process much faster than traditional spinlock alternatives.
Fitness Gear 300lb Olympic Weight Set: was $399.99, now $299.99 at Dick's Sporting Goods
Save $100 An Olympic barbell and 255lb worth of plates for less than $300 is a good deal. This is a great set if you're looking to step up your at-home weight training, particularly if you pair it with a weight bench and squat rack. The maximum weight capacity (300lb/136kg) isn't too high for an Olympic barbell in the grand scheme of things, but most people will still be able to challenge themselves with strength-boosting squats, rows, presses and more.
Les Mills Barbell Set: was $449, now $359.20 at Les Mills
Save $89.80 This barbell might not fall under the "adjustable" banner, but having used it I found the clever "Gator" mechanism means you can add and remove plates in seconds—ideal for HIIT sessions and circuit workouts like you'll find on the Les Mills app, which is currently offering four weeks of free use and a 12-month membership for the price of four.

BalanceFrom Rubber Coated Cast Iron Plate Weight Plate 10lb: was $24.70, now $19.26 at Amazon
Save 22%. This weight can be used on a barbell or as a piece of kit in its own right. Customers rate this 4.6/5 stars, with 80% giving it 5/5 stars.
CAP Barbell Olympic Grip Weight Plate Collection: was $39.99, now $25.60 at Amazon
Save 36% on this set of four 5lb weight plates, rated 4.8 out of 5 stars on Amazon. Reviews love the quality of these weights and value for money, also saying it's easy to add weight to a DIY pully system.
Olympic Rubber Grip Plates: was $45.99, now $33.99 at Amazon
Save 26% on these plates from Bolux. They fit all standard Olympic bars and racks with a 2-inch hole and single plates can be used in lieu of a dumbbell or kettlebell in your warmup.
Champion Sports 12lb Exercise Medicine Ball: was $33.99, now $25.24 at Amazon
Save 26% This medicine ball from Champion Sports is smaller than many and has a synthetic leather finish for greater grip, making it a great option for medicine ball slams and similarly dynamic exercises. There are a few weight options too, but only the 6lb one clocks in at a lower price ($23.72) than this 12lb ball.
RitFit Weighted Medicine Balls set: was $165.99, now $132.79 at Amazon
Save 20% with this Prime Exclusive deal on Amazon. Get a whole range of weighted medicine balls from RitFit and kit out your home gym for less.

I also like that this set comes with a carry case, cushioned handle attachment and door anchor, opening the door (pun intended) to even more exercises.
WSAKOUE resistance bands: was $19.98, now $9.99 at Amazon
Save 50% This affordable resistance band set comes with four bands of varying resistance levels; 5-15lbs,15-30lbs, 30-60lbs and 60-100lbs. They can help you add resistance to strength training exercises at home, while taking up a fraction of the space of a bulky barbell set.
Renoj Resistance Bands: was $25.99, now $12.72 at Amazon
Save 51% These small loop resistance bands from Renoj are great for glute and hip-strengthening exercises. You can put them around your thighs while squatting to encourage you to drive your knees outwards and improve your form, or pop one around your upper arms while performing push-ups for a bonus boost in the bottom of the movement (trust me, give it a go).
Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals will expire at midnight on Monday December 2nd.
Last year, we saw weights on sale a week before Black Friday itself, which falls on Friday November 29 this year (2024) and most stores kept their deals in place and even introduced new ones across Thanksgiving weekend, through to Cyber Monday, which is December 2nd this year.
Cyber Monday revolves around online discounts and, historically, has become the bigger deals event of the Black Friday period. As a result, the elongated Black Friday weekend is usually the best time to swoop in and snag a great deal online.
However, many brands and retailers are now slashing the price of their products far sooner, with early deals available from October in some cases.
These discounts also tend to last beyond the Black Friday weekend, with many stretching through the Christmas period and even into the New Year.
To throw another curveball your way, sites like Amazon don't always keep their discounts constant. Instead, prices may fluctuate throughout November and December. We keep an eye on this, checking each deal to ensure the prices haven't been ramped up previously to make the current discount look better.
To help you navigate this complex sale event, we'll keep an eye on the best daily Black Friday and Cyber Monday weights deals. Bookmark this page to stay on top of the latest updates.
A quality set of weights is a great investment for training at home, although picking the right ones for you will depend on several factors.
First, your fitness goals. If you want to use weights for faster-paced, fitness-boosting types of exercise like HIIT workouts for fat loss, a sturdy fixed-weight dumbbell or single kettlebell is a smart choice. If you want to build muscle and strength, though, a space-saving set of adjustable dumbbells is a better fit. Yes, they’re more expensive, but they will allow you to increase the weight you’re using as you grow stronger without needing to buy a new set of dumbbells.
Consider your training experience, too. If you’re new to using weights, you can save yourself money and still make considerable strides in your training by picking up a lighter pair. However, if you’re a seasoned lifter, you may need a heavier dumbbell, kettlebell or even a barbell set, which usually cost more.
Personal preference also plays a part—what do you enjoy training with the most?—because healthy habits are easier to form when you’re having fun. If a kettlebell flow gets you going, that should be your first port of call. If the prospect of classic dumbbell strength exercises has you raring to train, pick up a pair of them. And, if you enjoy the satisfaction of moving heavy weights during a barbell squat, a barbell set is likely to get more use than any of the alternatives.
Everyone loves a bargain, but you’re only getting a good deal if the thing you’re buying benefits you; choose wisely.
The cheapest weights are often the lightest, but to become stronger you need to put your muscles under strain by lifting a kettlebell, barbell or dumbbells that challenges them. Be careful of the pitfall of buying a set that isn’t heavy enough to do that.
You also want to consider the quality. Cast-iron dumbbells, coated or not, tend to be pretty foolproof, so if you can find a significant saving on the weight you want then this is worth going for. I prefer hex dumbbells, as you can rest them on the floor for exercises like renegade rows, but other shapes will also work.
However, it’s worth checking out our roundup of the best adjustable dumbbells before you decide on a set of these premium weights, as there are fancy features that can improve, or detract from, the product—depending on how well they’re done.
To the untrained eye, a triple-figure fee for weighty lumps of metal may seem extortionate, but there are reasons why weights are expensive, and number one is the material. Weights are usually made from iron or steel, which is a more expensive material than plastic, and the weight of the raw materials means they are more expensive to ship during the manufacturing process.
There are two main types of dumbbell: fixed weight dumbbells and adjustable dumbbells.
For fixed weight dumbbells, a solid rule of thumb to follow is to aim to pay less than $3 per pound of weight Usually, the closer you can get to paying $1 per pound, the better the deal, although this will depend on the quality of the weight.
Adjustable dumbbells are more complex, and will cost more as a result.
Spinlock sets, featuring central metal bars and interchangeable weight plates, will be the cheapest option, and you can sometimes pick up a 22lb pair for less than $50.
More technical selectorized adjustable dumbbells, which have dial-controlled weight-changing mechanisms, will be the most expensive. Although in our opinion, it's worth holding out for a trusted brand here, as we've found cheaper sets can have loose plates or poor build quality.
The Bowflex SelectTech 552s are our favorites for training at home, and having kept tabs on their sale price over the last few years we'd say that if you can pick a pair up for anything close to $300-$350 then you're on to a winner.
